About Me

My first job after University was working for an agricultural aid agency in Canberra where I organised the travel for consultants to third world countries.

This job inspired me to travel myself.  My first overseas adventure was to Zimbabwe and an 8 week overland camping trip through Africa.  After this adventure I worked and lived in London for a further two years and took every opportunity I could to travel through Europe & other parts of Africa and the Middle East.

When my working holiday visa expired I returned to Merimbula to be closer to family.  For the past 25 years I have owned and operated a Travel Agency & continued to travel extensively.

As a side line to my travel agency I established a retail shop (The Travel House) but it was purely travel related items such as suitcases & travel accessories.

The need to evolve, with the emergence of COVID 19, led to Home & Away Gifts - where I understandably had to change the emphasis of the shop away from travel related accessories and luggage and more into giftware.  The gifts & homewares that I stocked reflect my love of travel and colour.

In 2022 I decided to move my shop and facilitated a total rebrand - which has now led to Lorikeet Lane.  Deciding on a name that truly reflects your store was extremely difficult - but with such a colourful store & Lorikeet's being such colourful birds it seemed a perfect fit.

I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
